For the first time in Australian Rugby, all State Unions and Rugby clubs will have access to the same fundraising toolkit thanks to the Australian Rugby Foundation (ARF) and the Australian Sports Foundation.

The toolkit has been tailored to suit each State and offers top tips, strategies and case studies to help execute a successful fundraising campaign.

Over the coming months, each State Union in conjunction with the ARF will run workshops with interested clubs and tournament organisers to share their learnings and fundraising plans for 2019.

Executive Director of the Australian Rugby Foundation Peter Murphy said: ‘’Our priority is to drive greater investment into Rugby right across the country and this toolkit equips our State Unions and their Rugby communities to be able to do so.’’

‘’Fundraising can be a difficult task when you don’t have the right resources on hand so this toolkit aims to solve that hurdle. It teaches people how to build awareness, target the right people and give recognition to donors.’’

National Sales and Partnerships Director at the Australian Sports Foundation Ryan Holloway said: ‘’The toolkit we have produced in conjunction with the Australian Rugby Foundation offers clubs a structured fundraising approach and we’re confident it will lead to a major funding boost for Rugby clubs right across the country.

‘’Fundraising through the Australian Sports Foundation also allows clubs to raise tax-deductible donations, which can be a major drawcard for donors.’’

The Australian Rugby Foundation is Rugby Australia’s national fundraising body and since kicking off in 2014 have made a significant contribution to the game from the grassroots level to the elite.

As well as raising funds for high performance and player welfare, the foundation has granted $390,000 for grassroots Rugby, $125,000 for women’s Rugby and $25,000 for Indigenous Rugby.

It’s led to them being listed in the top four Australian Sport Fundraisers following a 52% increase in donations over the last 12 months.
